Longtime Williams Police Sergeant Tad Wygal has been chosen to replace retiring Police Chief Herman Nixon. City Manager Tim Pettit recommended Wygal be appointed as the next Chief and the Williams City Council voted unanimously to approve him.
Wygal currently serves as the Williams School Resource Officer.
Wygal is expected to be sworn in as Police Chief at the next City Council meeting in December.
