Rodeo Road on the east end of town is open after being closed for several months due to construction work. The furthest east portion all the way to Route 66 now has a new road bed and a new asphalt surface.
The road had to be ripped up for the installation of new water pipes connecting Dogtown Lake to the city water system.
While the short stretch of new pavement is a welcome addition, it only serves to highlight the seriously deteriorated condition of the remaining portion of the road. The City has no immediate plans to fix the rest of Rodeo Road as no funds are currently available to repave it. The escalating cost of road repairs is an increasing burden on many cities with no easy solutions.
