ROAD REPAIR BEGINS ON ROUTE 66 NEAR BEARIZONA

Road paving crews have begun work to replace a portion of Route 66 on the east end of Williams near the entrance to Bearizona.

The approximately 1000 feet of roadway is in bad condition and is marred with potholes and uneven pavement.

Flagstaff based C & E Paving & Grading LLC was the successful bidder on the project budgeted at $549,087, according to Williams City Manager Tim Pettit. Funding for the repairs comes from an ADOT grant using money provided to the state by the Federal Government.

Former Mayor John W. Moore and current City Manager Tim Pettit worked with the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) to secure the money earlier than would have normally been possible due to the urgent need for the repairs.

The project is expected to take about a week to complete.
