DOWNTOWN CRASH LEADS TO HIT & RUN DUI ARREST

A suspected hit & run drunk driving suspect is in the custody of Williams Police after he allegedly struck a large truck and pushed it onto the sidewalk in front of the Grand Canyon Hotel on Route 66 in downtown Williams.

According to witnesses, the suspects red Ford F-150 truck with California license plates was driving eastbound on Route 66 at higher than normal speed when he rear ended a parked Dodge Ram truck with Wyoming plates, pushing it onto the sidewalk and into the front wall of the hotel. Luckily no pedestrians were injured.

A Williams resident followed the hit and run driver eastbound on Route 66 and watched him park near the Red Roof Inn and called police. When police arrived the driver of the truck was passed out.

The suspect was uncooperative with police but was taken into custody without incident.
