BIEGERT HEIRS PLAN NATURE PRESERVE AT GONZALES LAKE TO PREVENT DEVELOPMENT

In a stunning turn of events, the daughter of former Grand Canyon Railway owners Max and Thelma Biegert notified Williams Mayor John W. Moore that the family intends to preserve the nearly 500 acres they own surrounding Gonzales Lake as a nature preserve to prevent any development from ever occurring on the land.

The land has been of great concern to many Williams residents as it could have potentially been developed to include as many as 1000 new homes. A theme park was even proposed for the land at one point.

The property had been offered for sale but the family decided to pull it off the market and preserve the open space for the benefit of the City of Williams and its’ residents.

According to Mayor Moore, “Becky Conte, the daughter of Max and Thelma Biegert called me and informed me that their Gonzales Lake property was no longer for sale and they were planning on making it a conservation area to preserve it and keep it open space.”
