SPECTACULAR THUNDERSTORM DUMPS RAIN IN THE WILLIAMS AREA

A large thunderstorm dumped about an inch of rain on Williams and the surrounding areas overnight and provided spectacular lightning that lit up the night sky for several hours.

The rain was very heavy at times and caused some minor flooding, but no significant problems were reported.

Lightning strikes on the ground were observed throughout the area. A report of a lightning caused fire was investigated north of the airport, but no fire could be located by Coconino County Deputies.

A flood advisory was issued for the Williams area by the National Weather Service. It expired at 11:45 p.m. Thursday night. The forecast calls for mostly clear skies throughout the holiday weekend, with a small chance of isolated rain in the area.
