2 SERIOUS TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS SNARL TRAFFIC ON THE 40 WEST OF TOWN

Two serious accidents occurred in the rain on Interstate 40 west of Williams Sunday afternoon.

The first accident was reported westbound at mile marker 156.5 at 2:06 p.m. to Williams Police and DPS. Williams Fire Department responded with two units and treated one male and one female in serious condition. An infant was also in the car but appeared to have little to no injuries. All three were transported to Flagstaff Medical Center by Lifeline Ambulances.

A second roll over accident was reported at 2:42 p.m. on the eastbound side of the 40 at mile marker 156. Williams Fire Department units responded to that accident and flew one victim to Flagstaff by Air Ambulance. All eastbound lanes were closed for about 2 hours for the helicopter landing and for the DPS investigation. At least one fatality was reported in this incident. A total of 3 people were transported to Flagstaff Medical Center from this crash.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigation both incidents.
